The Hilton Hawaiian Village is located in Waikiki, on the Island of Oahu – 8 miles from Honolulu International Airport, 3 miles from Downtown Honolulu, and walking distance to the Ala Moana Shopping Center, (now considered one of the largest shopping centers in the World!)

This first-class resort is comprised of six magnificent towers all nestled within 22 acres of a self-contained tropical paradise with cascading waterfalls, a sumptuous variety of restaurants and lounges, and world-class shopping.
Our Oceanside home away from home for the 2012 HAWAI‘I STAR BALL will be the Tapa Tower where the competitions will be held in the famous Tapa Ballroom.

Closing Dates and Entry Deadlines
|
If you are planning on attending the 2012 Hawai'i Star Ball please make sure that all Hotel Reservations are received and paid for no later than Tuesday August 28th in order to guarantee Hilton Hawaiian Village accommodation. On August 28th the Hilton Hawaiian Village needs us to make full prepayment of all reserved rooms. If payment is not received by that date then hotel rooms not fully prepaid will be canceled and rooms at the Hilton as well as our special group rate can no longer be guaranteed.
NOTE:This year, 2012, our room block has been reduced. So, please send in your Hotel reservations with full payment as soon as you are able.
Dance Entries must be received or postmarked by Saturday September 8th in order to be accepted. All late Dance Entries received after September 8th, if accepted, will be assessed a late entry fee of $15 per Pro/Am entry or $40 per multi-dance entry. This includes all Amateurs and Professionals.
The Official Program closes for printing on September 12th, the timetable will be set and late entries will be returned.

Dress Code
|
Tuesday evening Welcome Sunset Reception and Buffet is outdoors - very casual dress - shorts and jeans permitted.
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday daytime events Casual-wear but NO shorts, jeans, tank tops, swim wear. A casual elegant look would be appreciated for all daytime spectators.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evening Dinner/Dances are semi formal. An elegant look is appropriate. Men could wear blazers or sport jackets. Black Tie is appreciated but not required.

How to Get to the Event
|
Fly into Honolulu International Airport (which is on the Island of O'ahu). American, Continental, Delta, Hawaiian, Northwest, and United Airlines service Hawai'i.
Outside baggage claim take a taxi from the Airport to the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort and Spa, the ride usually takes about 30 minutes depending on time of day and traffic and costs $35 - $45.
For groups a Lei greeting and limousine can be arranged which is cheaper than individual taxis. Contact Charlies Limousine at (808) 947-0077 to book (in 2011 the cost was $170 one-way or $290 round-trip which includes baggage handling and a Lei greeting).

Private Lessons and Practice Times
|
Private Instruction with the Judges, Demonstrators and Officials is not available at this time. All of the Officials and Judges usually take advantage of their being invited to Hawai'i to take a few extra days vacation either before or after the event.
Some visiting competing professionals may be available to give private lessons. In this case interested students or couples should contact them directly. We can arrange for studio space for you with a pre-paid floor fee of $25 per hour. Space is very limited at local Hawai'i dance studios. Contact us for further information.
Private coaching and instruction in the ballroom at the Hilton Hawaiian Village with competing professionals must be before or after the day's events at a floor fee of $45 per hour.
During the Hawai'i Star Ball the Hotel Ballroom is available for practice by registered Pro/Am, Amateur and Professional competitors anytime after the evening event and before the morning event. There can be no practicing during the intermission between the afternoon and evening events. This time is reserved for the Hotel staff to set up the Ballroom and rehearsal time for the evening shows.

Videography and Still Photography
|
Video taping during the competitive events and shows is strictly prohibited. We hire a professional Video Company to take your 'take home' videos of your dancing.
Still photography during the competitive events and shows is also prohibited. We hire Park West Photography to take action shots and line-ups.
Still Cameras will not be allowed in the ballroom during competitive events without permission from Organizer Mr. Fells.
Cell Phone photography is also not allowed.
