The Moorish home houses Duke's extensive collection of Islamic art, which she assembled over more than 60 years. Groups of 12 only with tours lasting 2-1/2 hours. For more information phone (866) 385-3849 or see www.honoluluacademy.org.

Pearl Harbor's Memorials - Make the pilgrimage to the Arizona Memorial and Battleship Missouri, "Might Mo." Nearby is the Pearl Harbor Avenger submarine at Bowfin Park. Relive wartime history through exhibits, films and activities.

North Shore - Monster winter waves make this the world's surfing destination. Year round, discover sporty boutiques, great eats and an easy-going lifestyle.

Hale'iwa on the North Shore - The television show "Baywatch" chose this place as their home; the little town where sun and surf reign. A colorful community with many local artists and gift shops selling arts and crafts of Hawai'i. An eclectic combination of marine art, pottery, sculptures and watercolors providing for a wide range of tastes and pocketbooks.

Waimea Falls Park - Find lots of learning and adventure - kayaking and mountain biking - set among lush gardens filled with birds and a spectacular waterfall.

Polynesian Cultural Center - Immerse yourself in the lifestyles of island cultures with demonstrations. And don't forget the IMAX theater, Ali'i Lu'au and "Horizons" show - it is non-stop discovery. Slip through the side gates for free to shop at the Treasures of Polynesia Marketplace.

Kaneohe - It is a greener, cooler, more peaceful change of pace when you hit Oahu's windward side. Don't' miss the view from Pali Lookout, visit Chinaman's Hat, Valley of the Temples and Kualoa Ranch.

Sea Life Park Hawai'i - Comical sea lions, friendly dolphins and turtles entertain visitors at this marine park located in beautiful spot overlooking the ocean near Makapuu point.

Hanauma Bay - This sanctuary is home to hundreds of reef fish. Stop by the Education Center to learn what you will find when snorkeling the turquoise waters.

Downtown Honolulu and Old Honolulu City Tour - Old and new coexist among detailed, ornate buildings and glossy towers. Go for a walk and take a lingering look beneath the exterior. The City of Honolulu exists because of its Harbor and the traffic that has sailed into its deep calm water has forever altered Oahu and was instrumental in molding Hawai'i into her present form. Put on a pair of comfortable shoes and walk through history visiting the Aloha Tower and the four masted sailing vessel 'Falls of Clyde'. Then head inland to Chinatown, and onto the only royal residence in the USA - I'olani Palace, and Washington Place home of the Governor, King Kamehameha I statue, Kawaiahao Church and the Mission Houses, and many more points of interest.

Iolani Palace - is the only royal palace in the USA.
The Palace has recently added a self-guided tour through galleries installed in the basement of the mansion. The galleries, which are wheelchair accessible, showcase the Hawaiian crown jewels of Hawaiian royalty and a collection of ancient regalia. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Entrance fee is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-12.
Guided tours of the Palace are available Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Tours begin every 15 minutes and are 45 minutes long. There is an admission fee and reservations are recommended. Visitors learn quickly that they are expected to enter the Palace with proper respect for both its past and present - no water, no candy, no gum, no ball point pens, no photos. Beepers and cell phones off. Keep your booties (provided) on at all times.

Circle Oahu by Bus - The Island of Oahu is visually stunning, and you owe it to yourself to circle it at least once and 'TheBus' is an inexpensive ($1.50), relaxing way of doing it without renting a car. You can circle the Island clockwise on a #52 and sit on the left side or counter-clockwise on a #55 and sit on the right side. Buses leave Ala Moana Shopping Center every 30 minutes starting at 6:00 a.m. The ride takes about 4 hours. Make sure to ask the Driver that the bus you are on will continue along the coastal route. You might have to change busses at the Turtle Bay Hilton Hotel.

Diamond Head - It is more than 100 stair steps to the lookout but worth it. Take adequate water, a flashlight and camera. Rest a spell when you reach the top - the view stretches for miles.

Waikiki Beach - Each grain of sand could tell a story for the millions of visitors that have walked this beach. It connects open-air eateries, landmark hotels and is a few steps from shopping.

National Cemetery of the Pacific - The top visitor attraction in Hawai'i has a solemn air along with its magnificent lookout, mosaic Battleship Gallery and Courts of the Missing Monument with the Punchbowl Crater.

Bishop Museum - Here you will find Hawaii's premiere collection of hand-woven Hawaiian feather capes. A 50-foot sperm whale, weapons and much more. World-class athletes and sports pioneers are the stars of the Hawai'i Sport hall of Fame. Visiting exhibits, a gift shop and planetarium make it fun for the family.

The Honolulu Zoo - is a welcome respite from the 'zoo out there' It is not necessarily quiet with all the birds and beasts saying their piece. It is fairly close to all the Hotels in Waikiki just before Kapiolani Park.

Pleasant Hawaiian Hula Show - formerly the Kodak Hula Show. NOW CLOSED. NO MORE. ALL PAU!
